Karen L. Miller - Vice President, Information Technology Abbott Labs.

Miller joined Abbott in 1978 as a business systems analyst. She has held several management positions in the diagnostics and pharmaceutical products divisions. She was named divisional vice president, information systems, diagnostics division in 1997. She was elected to her current position in February 2000.

Prior to working in the Pharmaceutical Products Division, Miller worked for six years in the IT area of the Corporate Materials Management division. Miller has worked across a variety of application areas from traditional transactions systems to CRM, ERP & other newer technologies.

Prior to joining Abbott, Miller was a systems engineer with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in the commercial banking sector.

She earned a bachelor's degree in finance at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., and a master's degree in management from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

Miller was born in Opelika, Ala., on February 24, 1954. She resides in north suburban Chicago and has two adult children.
